updates

Hello everyone.  I’m sitting here at my mother in laws thinking of all of the people i should call and realizing that there is not nearly enough hours in the day this past couple of weeks to keep people updated.  So i’m going to put it here for the masses read.

since we’ve moved the biggest news to date has been concerning kacie’s eye and the surgery that immediately followed.  to explain further, Kacie had what is called a retinal detachment.  There is no way for anyone to see it from the outside except for people who know what to look for under a microscope and what symptoms kacie could see.  It starts as flashes in one or both eyes and then big “floaters” going across the eye that pretty much everyone has in some way or another.  These floaters are larger than normal which is what makes them different, obviously.  The biggest thing that caused us much concern was the “curtain” that started slowly creeping in.  basically kacie was partially blind in only part of her eye due to the retinal detachment.  part of her eye had a black curtain creeping from her nose to the center of her left eye resulting in a mini blindness.  Pretty creepy to say the least.  We had no idea what to do or what it meant.  with all of this happening so close to us moving there wasn’t a whole lot that we thought we could do.  So we moved to NC and her eye curtain started creeping farther towards the center of her eye.  and then the next day it was gone.  and then it was back again. and then it was gone.  and the back again.  so… we went to her hometown eye doctor to check this creepy thing out.  the night before we went though we looked it up online to see just what it might be.  needless to say, by what we read on google, we were pretty scared about what the diagnosis might be.

We go to the eye doctor. he says ” yep its a retinal detachment, i’m going to send you to doctor Baer.”  We go to doctor Baer who looks like steve zahn the actor except not funny at all.  but kacie and i both looked at each other in the doctors office when he walked in with that knowing grin that best friends have when they are thinking the exact same thing.  then the doctor, after doing all of his check up stuff with kacie says, ” yeah you have a retinal detachment”  he then explains that we need to go for surgery the next day and then schedules it with the hospital.

now in the period of 2 days we went from a weird eye thing, to an eventual permanent blindness if left untreated.  Big news for people who just made a cross country move.

all that to say we appreciate everyone praying for us in this time of craziness and unsurety and that we have a whole lot of people believing for kacies full healing.  furthermore, if we could toss out another prayer request, we are needing favor with financial assistance in NC.  Since we haven’t lived here for more than a week, we don’t qualify for regular financial assistance as we would have in KC having been there for more than 3 years.  We are trying an emergency medicaid specifically for things like this surgery.  we need favor.

thank you for taking the time to read this mumbled mess of blog but i needed to get it out somehow.  Bless you all for all of your faithful support of us as a family and as a family in ministry.

Good night

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY US!

that’s right, one year ago today, darin robert damme took me to be his wife, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, ’til death do us part or Christ returns for his bride.

one year.  it’s weird to think about…  i’ve been a wife for a whole year.  woah.  and now i’m a mom.  bigger woah.  in one year of marriage, we have gained much in love, respect, hope, faith, trust, experience, and healing.  and we’ve gained another damme, too!  i think it’s safe to say that it has been a productive year!

finally!

today, i am free from old navy.  it is nice.

for the past two years, i have been knocking out my debt, one bit at a time.

my debt story isn’t all that frightening in comparison to others, this i know, but on an intercessory missionary budget, it is still quite an obstacle.  especially now that i am not the primary provider for myself anymore.  essentially, my debt is being paid off by someone who had no part in racking it up– yikes!  (to be noted: my husband is quite the outstanding man; he has never once complained about my debt, nor has he put up with me fussing over his having to pay for it)

do not forget the least of these

give because you have, not because it feels good or justifies other not-so-savory behavior or mildly satisfies guilt.

give because you need, especially when covetousness of those who experience “the overflow” begins to creep in.

give because you live, since giving is no longer an option when you’re dead, physically OR emotionally.

don’t give out of self-seeking, self-righteous motives.  don’t give so that others see your gift and judge you highly.  don’t give because you want to receive.

give because of love.

give because of a reality check.

give because it burns in your heart like fire.

just give.  and give freely.  give without griping, without grasping, without gasping.

give all you have…

…because all was given for you.

that is all.

i got the job!

yep.  i got the contact center job.  i love it when i go to interviews and halfway through the time the interviewer changes their language from “…if you get the position” to “…the place you will be sitting…” or “when you come in on monday…”  : )

happy.

it doesn’t pay much at all, which is awesome (money wasn’t the goal, but i’ll take it) and it gives me service hours that i will undoubtedly enjoy (complete with prayer room webstream access).

sweet deal.

thanks, Lord.

now let’s pray that darin gets the job he applied for.  he really wants it…

please, Lord…  can he have it?

huh

i’m tired. got up at 11 40 am today.  on a night schedule. lets put this in a mathematical equation.  night schedule + wake up at 11 40 am = stinking tired.
        (a)             +        (b)                       =        (c)

we took engagement pictures today.  its why we were up so early.  then we worked. then we got a box spring! thats a good thing. then we went to the prayer room. then we came into the bookstore for our lunch which turned into a 2 hour conversation about what it is we are doing and what we are wanting to do with life as it relates to Us.  very good conversation that has brought lots and lots of clarity to the both of us.   But for right now i’m too tired to actually talk with clarity for you guys.  Enjoy the little snippit from Darin
