still here on the face of the earth

contrary to what may be presumed by the lack of posting, we have not fallen off the face of the earth.  apologies for the near-month of absence, but here i is, ready to update.

1.ransom had a rough month of getting used to life outside of the womb, but is on the mend.  he has some feeding trouble, which makes mom sad sometimes because he kind of doesn’t like to eat from her, however, in light of the fact that he is thriving and growing, she gets over it rather quickly.  he is just over ten pounds as of this morning, growing like a weed and looking cute as a button.  he also smiles a lot now, and sometimes almost giggles when we tickle him.  it’s precious.

and now: photo overload to make up for lost time–

yo. where's my grub?

seriously, guys... i'm cute.

2. this damme family is looking at its last month in kansas city.  that’s right, carolinas and ZHOP, here we come.  we’re shipping out the last week of july and hope to have everything in order by the time the move is upon us.
all we essentially have left to figure out is a job for darin and a place to live.  we’ve done lots of scouting and  have some good ideas, but are still trying to get things panned out (internet apartment shopping is not a good idea…  thankfully i have friends in the area who are checking places out in person for us).  we’re stoked about the move and about putting our hands to the plow at ZHOP; it’s something we’ve been wanting to do for over a year now and the opportunities to serve in charlotte are abundant.  plus, darin found a luthier’s school less than half an hour from the area we are looking at to settle down; prior to that we only knew of the one in michigan, so this discovery is quite a good one.

3. i’m getting pretty excited about digging everything out of all the nooks and crannies of this apartment to purge it before packing.  we have significantly outgrown our space here, but i think much of that is us not cleaning out the unused and unnecessary items.  purging my belongings is always so rewarding once i get going… can’t wait.

4. if anyone would like a dining room table with two good chairs (you can have the two other shoddy chairs if you want to fix them), a hi-fi stereo (the thing inside our door that we use as a catch-all), a printer, a bedroom set with queen-size bed platform, box-springs, and two end-tables (take any or all pieces together), some random kitchen items (5 cup coffeemaker with permanent gold filter, stainless steel skillet, a seasoned wok, some glass cookware, etc), or women’s clothing (sz. 10 jeans and m/l tops), let me know (howmuchless@hotmail.com or leave a comment here).

5. i’ve been singing a lot lately, mostly to the Lord and to ransom, but nonetheless.  i forgot how much i like to sing…

6. the waltons is a really good show.  thank you, joco library, for providing us with whole seasons worth of walton-y goodness.

alright, that’s all for now.  peace to you all and thanks for dropping by.  hope you enjoyed the pics!

  2. hi there! Came across your blog from Greg Burnetts. So glad you’re coming to Fort Mill! Do you still need to find a place to live when you get here? I know of a few homes that are renting quite close to ZHOP. (within 2 miles!) Email me if you want to talk more! I’d love to help you with this transition :-)
