bed rest might not be so bad after all
so, a few updates on one of my very few bed rest breaks (i get four-ish a day, about fifteen minutes at a time):
x. baby stuff is getting better. my blood pressure is back to relatively normal for where i’m at in the pregnancy (134/70-something), but the edema (swelling) is still being monitored. my legs and feet were beyond disturbing to see at my last prenatal, but since have had their moments of getting back to normal, especially on days when i stick to my bed rest. i actually saw my ankles two days ago… it was like christmas.
x. our desktop computer came! talk about christmas…! we are so overwhelmed! thanks coxes!
x. not only did we get a big brand new desktop computer, but it came equipped with lots of games (translate: happy darin).
x. i made muffins from scratch (and from my creativity) this morning on my morning break and wound up with quite an interesting dozen things… i had a huge craving for oats, and figured that muffins, the all-around team player of the baked goods world, could sustain a few changes to the standard recipe. basically with a muffin, you ony need a few things to make one work (liquid, fat, flour-or-grain-base, rising agent). i decided i was going to make blueberry cinnamon oat and wheat muffins. they came out more like scones because i was working with darin in the kitchen (having him mix things so i wouldn’t have to be on my feet the whole time, and so he can learn that baking isn’t as difficult as he likes to think it is, which will prayerfully come in handy post-birthed-baby) and i forgot to add a half cup of sugar. but they didn’t really need the sugar anyway because oats and wheat flour have their own sweeteness, as does the fruit; they were pretty good. kind of like hearty blueberry biscuits. had i added buttermilk powder, they would have been outstanding. there’s always a next time…
x. in other news, i found a pretty cool link today to ZHOPTV on mogulus, a platform that we used during onething this past year for promotional purposes. as most of you know, this damme family is moving down to ft. mill, sc in august to join staff at ZHOP (the Zadok House of Prayer, serving the charlotte area in worship and intercession), so it was stinking cool to get to peer into their happenings for a bit today on their mogulus channel. check it out, fish around the on-demand content for worship sets and teachings. they’re way cool people and we’re thrilled to get to serve with them soon!
alright. i need to get back to the couch and get these feet up. thanks for remembering me/us in prayer lately; i can definitely tell things are improving with the pregnancy because of the movements of God and the prayers of the saints. please keep them coming! we’re not out of the water yet. : )
peace to your souls.
