i have dinosaur feet…

so, in case you haven’t yet heard, i have pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH) that showed up around two weeks ago and hasn’t taken its leave.  what this means on the practical:

1. i am puffy.  especially from mid-calf down to my toes, but also frequently in my face and hands.  yay edema.

2. baby is mostly fine; there is the reality that with high blood pressure (hypertension), less blood can get across the placenta to baby, but all that seems to equate to is a lower birth weight.  baby was measuring big before, so maybe this is an interesting way to balance that out…?

3. i’m on bed rest.  and i stink at it.  real bad.

4. if my “numbers” don’t go down, they may have to induce labor earlier than my due date (which is just three weeks away).  labor-inducing at such a point would be beneficial for both me and baby, albeit not the way we hope this turns out.

5. all of this hypertension goes away when baby comes out, which is a nice perk to delivering, whenever it happens.  and the chances that i will deal with PIH in another pregnancy are significantly reduced by having gone through it this time.

so, all that to say, if you are willing, please pray for me.  and for darin, who is not used to having a fairly inactive and helpless wife.  and for our baby, who is not used to anything at all, honestly, and i can’t imagine this is all that fun for it.

in other news, our baby shower went wonderfully.  we now have the means to get a car seat and other necessities and we are super-thankful to all our friends for giving so graciously into our need.

darin’s guitar repair “business” is taking off quite nicely all of a sudden.  it has long been a dream of his to build and repair guitars; we have kept it in our minds as something we want to see come to fruition whenever the Lord opens the door, but had not until this point been able to see anything happening anytime soon.  an interesting turn of events has opened some doors and i couldn’t be more thrilled for my husband; he is finally able to get his hands dirty and do something about one of his greatest desires!  there’s nothing in the world like watching someone flourish…  i thank God for this opportunity for darin; it is super-timely.  amen.

well, that’s about it.  i need to get my feet up before i swell up again.  fun.  God help me…
